Lucy Zirins releases her new E.P “What’s in Front of Me”
November 2nd 2015 on independent label Gingersnap
Music. The E.P features 6 new original tracks recorded
and mixed by Jim Knight of Knight Time Studios.
“What’s in Front of Me” features Lucy’s live touring band
“The Southern Company” made up of Andy Crowdy, Simon
Price and Pete Billington with an eclectic mix of vocals,
double bass, guitar, strings, keys, organ and drums and
percussion. The E.P encompasses a mix of genres, from country
stomper “Changing Ground”, to the celtic folk inspired “You Won’t
Remember Me”, to the blues rock influenced “Worry and the Wine”.
Self penned and produced, the E.P was written mostly in
the first few months of Lucy’s transition from her small town
home in Lancashire to West London where she is currently
based.
“What’s in Front of Me” follows up debut album “Chasing
Clocks” for which Lucy received airplay on both BBC Radio 2
and BBC Radio 6, as well as having a live performance of track
“Goodnight” picked up from a BBC Introducing session and
syndicated by the BBC Mark Forrest Show which goes out to
more than 1 million listeners. The album received critical acclaim,
predominantly from the country, folk, blues and roots press
with Maverick Magazine awarding it 4 stars saying: "There are
not too many debut albums as promising as this" (4/5 stars) and
R2 Magazine praising the album for it’s “modern folk-tinged
country” sound and Lucy’s vocal delivery.
Lucy has received a number of accolades including being picked by
the PRS as one of their “Class of 2010” for her promise as a
young UK songwriter at just 18 years old. She was a UK Country
Radio songwriter finalist in their 2014 awards and has been
nominated for the British Blues Awards in various categories both as
a songwriter and artist for the past 4 years, winning in 2014.
Lucy will be on tour throughout 2015 in both solo, duo and band
format. 2016 tour dates to be confirmed. She begins work on a
new album in 2016.

memory of Uncle Chris.

"Listening to
Lucy is like sampling a fine wine after drinking the regular stuff. Beautiful songs, beautifully sung."
Combining a mix of original material with blues, soul, folk and gospel numbers in her set, Lucy is fast making a name for herself on the British music scene and as a songwriter.
