Before you start the fire and open on my wasted heart I guess I should warn you that I’ve been here before Love’s no battlefield but I’ve had my share of injuries And I don’t know how to make it other than going it alone There’s still a lot for me to learn and I’ve messed up before But if you put your trust in me, who knows where we could go? I know I hurt you and I left you alone and waiting I’m ready now, ready to fall And the edge is closer but I can see clearly now That I’m ready now, ready to fall I’m ready now, ready to fall Getting closer, I hear the beating of your heart And the drumming scares me but I don’t want to know How much I feel for you, no I don’t want to hurt you Cause there’s always casualties for mistakes you make unknown There’s still a lot for me to learn and I’ve messed up before But suddenly you take my hand; it doesn’t matter anymore I know I hurt you and I left you alone and waiting I’m ready now, ready to fall And the edge is closer but I can see clearly now That I’m ready now, ready to fall I’m ready now, ready to fall I’m ready now to face this climb Guess I had to get there in my own sweet time But fear won’t hold me back from you anymore I’ll take down every wall I’ve built stone by stone I know I hurt you and I left you alone and waiting I’m ready now, ready to fall And the edge is closer but I can see clearly now That I’m ready now, ready to fall I know I hurt you and I left you alone and waiting I’m ready now, ready to fall And the edge is closer but I can see clearly now That I’m ready now, ready to fall I’m ready now, ready to fall

How can we fight when there ain’t nothing to fight for? How can you say I do nothing? How could I do more? You’re here with me but I feel like I’m on my own Bitter words, they’re unspoken, but the blame’s left with me I know You’ve been tearing me down. Oh oh, oh oh oh You’ve been tearing me down. Oh oh, oh oh oh What’s more to say? And how could I say more? When we don’t even talk about anything anymore? We’re getting by but that barely makes a life I’m empty inside. There’s no more tears left to cry You’ve been tearing me down. Oh oh, oh oh oh You’ve been tearing me down. Oh oh, oh oh oh And I’m tired of your lies, your hatred in disguise Of a love that we once knew And I was lost in the haze and I couldn’t walk away But I’m leaving you this time it’s true You’ve been tearing me down There was a time when I loved you Nobody else would do, yeah Then came the thunder and the rain and the crashing of the waves And we were drowning in all of our fears And the world that we’ve got, well it don’t mean a lot When you’ve lost all your hope and belief Stop tearing me down. Oh oh, yeah yeah yeah You’ve been tearing me down. Oh oh, oh oh oh You’ve been tearing me down. Oh oh, oh oh oh You’ve been tearing me down. Oh oh, oh oh oh So I’m leaving you now

The days slipped by like hours and we were in a haze And there never seemed to be enough of time Every kiss you gave me took us away To a place here that was only yours and mine But I remember how you loved me And all the plans we said that we were going to make But somewhere just around the corner Life was gonna go and steal you away Now the bed is empty and time moves slow And the days drag into long nights without you And all at once we seem to fade away And the memories get lost and torn in two But I remember how you loved me And I still feel you lingering on my lips The taste of your mouth and the way you used to smile Yes, I remember the rhythm of your kiss I hope some day that we will meet again And fall back together as old lovers often do But there’s nothing to do right now but sit and wait And hope that one day that all our dreams come true ‘Cause I know life for us, oh it’s crazy And we’ve both been going in separate ways But just know wherever your life may take you I’ll wait right here, yes I’ll wait right here Yes I’ll wait right here, right here I’ll love you always, always I’ll be loving you, always, always, always I’ll be loving you always.

One Day Soon 03:39
Dreaming through the long summer days Hoping one day that we’d escape We were gonna run far into the sun and burn away But the days end and it’s all the same I just wanted to go somewhere, where no one knew my name And the trouble didn’t always fall on me like rain But I’ve been running in circles, chasing all my clocks Counting all my days down, hoping that it stops And one day soon, might all make sense with you One day soon, might all make sense with you One day soon Staring out over this town tonight Well you told me time is just like the tide Now you can’t make it change Just let it wash away the empty days But sometimes, yeah it all gets too much And lately I feel I’m getting out of touch I wish somehow I knew what the future held with you And for us someday But I’ve been running in circles, chasing all my clocks Counting all my days down, hoping that it stops And one day soon, might all make sense with you One day soon, might all make sense with you One day soon And I’ve been running away from all my dreams Lately I’m bursting apart at the seams Won’t you help me find a way through? ‘Cause I’ve been running in circles, chasing all my clocks Counting all my days down, hoping that it stops And one day soon, might all make sense with you One day soon, might all make sense with you One day soon, might all make sense with you One day soon, yeah, might all make sense with you One day soon

Home 04:09
These old streets that I used to know Where the leaves from the trees Would crunch beneath my tired feet as I’d roam And each step brings a memory that grows Of a place that I knew Where the wind always blew me along Ooo, I’m home Ooo, I’m home And I’ve got worries, I’ve got troubles too But each smoke filled breath in the air I know best Calms these blues Ooo, I’m home Ooo, I’m home All these people in the world I call my own Wave in the street, smile back when we meet Tell me I’ve grown I’m home I’m home
6.
Far away on a sunset dream Floating out on an open sea Everything looks so peaceful here tonight In the calm there’s a peace I feel But I’ve been holding out for something real It’s just a while ‘til the storm comes raging back again So won’t you sit a while and stay with me? Everything’s better when you’re here with me And I need some shelter from the world outside Won’t you stay with me until the morning light? Watching birds flying wild and free Stranded and waiting on an open sea I hope that someone is gonna come by here soon But there’s no one here who can rescue me Time to find a place that’s right for me I think I might drop my anchor here for a while So won’t you sit a while and stay with me? Everything’s better when you’re here with me And I need some shelter from the world outside Won’t you stay with me until the morning light? ‘Cause I need some shelter from the storm outside That’s been raging on and on I need a place where I can belong Far away on this open sea It’s all laid out like a midnight dream I wish you were here under the stars tonight So won’t you sit a while and stay with me? Everything’s better when you’re here with me And I need some shelter from the world outside Won’t you stay with me until the morning? Lay with me until the morning? Stay with me until the morning light

So many hours to waste, to waste In these long and lonesome days Guess I’ll just sit here and wait for you Didn’t think I’d miss anyone like I miss you And in the night when my heart grows cold Well, it’s you that I need to hold That’s the time I need you most it’s true Guess that I’ll just have to wait for you I’m always wondering What’s going through your mind When you’re alone and you’re trying to waste your time Just like I do, do, do Just like I do I wonder how you’re doing now you’re on your own? How you feel, you’re so far from home It won’t be long now we both say But we know that it doesn’t always feel that way I’m always wondering What’s going through your mind When you’re alone and you’re trying to waste your time Just like I do, do, do Just like I do

Wake Me 03:40
Wake me in springtime When the winter’s come and gone The air is warm again And I can hear birds singing songs Wake me in the summer When it’s time to feel the sun There’s warmth on my skin that enters within And calls out my fears to run Well, I’m holding on for tomorrow But tomorrow’s a day that’s always gone too soon Yesterday holds nothing to cling to There’s nothing left there but memories of you Wake me in the evening So I can watch the turning sky And I’ll see the change and the dancing flames Weave dreams upon my eyes Wake me in the darkness And I’ll face the ghosts long past And my world will change, there’s light here again And I’m at peace at last Well, I’m holding on for tomorrow But tomorrow’s a day that’s always gone too soon Yesterday holds nothing to cling to There’s nothing left there but memories of you Well, I’m holding on for tomorrow But tomorrow’s a day that’s always gone too soon Yesterday holds nothing to cling to There’s nothing left there but memories of you

The Last One 03:13
Why don’t you realise there’s only so much I can do If you won’t love yourself the way that I love you? Please try and understand there’s no need to hide Feel the warmth of my fingertips and take my lonely hand You don’t have to be afraid, I’m here, just understand That you could be my last love, the one for all time Take off your mask and show me your life Sing to me softly and hear my soul sigh And see the way that you make me feel Slow the long hours; take all my time Everything you have I want to be mine Please be the last one to stand at my side Put faith in my love for you and ease your worried mind It’s not gonna be easy but I’m here for the ride There’s no running away from this now you’re in my life Let down your guard and drop all your pride Show me yourself and tell me no lies Open your heart and let love in Let it all go; your heart will unwind And wash away all the trouble that binds I’ll be the last one to stand at your side Just try and understand that there’s nothing we can’t face You can have everything; oh it’s all yours to take There’s nothing I wouldn’t do to keep you in my arms Please just realise, that we’re good for each other Now that I’ve found you I don’t ever want another You could be my last love, the one for all time You could be my last love, the one for all time
10.
I forgot the sound of sadness ‘Til the silence of the night Brought out all the fears I’d hidden Somewhere in between the new day’s light Though I found it hard to stay here My life’s colours had began to run And I couldn’t make you wait here When my mind was becoming undone, oh no But in the morning’s shadow I saw clearly when the new day’s light Began to fill the day that was dawning With love and hope and majesty and might That much as I was trying I couldn’t be the one that you need ‘Cause we were sleeping in the same bed But we were lying, our hearts gone from our sleeves, oh no Now we’re tired and we’re breaking Like a tree grown old in time Whose branches have been clinging To the last days of their life And the days have grown so long here But our love’s still falling short So I must be on my way from here Before the light of dawn
11.
Lullaby 03:10
Don’t you worry, don’t you cry It’s just the changing of the tide Moving fast now before our eyes So much happening in your life Don’t you worry, don’t be blue Hold my hand, yes I’ll look after you Take a breath now; close your eyes And I’ll sing you a lullaby Lullaby, lullaby, ooo While there’s stars in the sky I’ll always be there by your side Take a breath now; close your eyes And I’ll sing you a lullaby Can’t give you anything but the truth Of a song that was made just for you So listen good now; close your eyes And I’ll sing you a lullaby Lullaby, lullaby, ooo Oh I’ll sing you a lullaby
12.
Goodnight 03:02
You’ve got it all boy, have nothing to need Yet you find yourself hungered by an all consuming greed For a love that won’t linger and a glance that won’t last Now you’re smoking up, drinking up, tired of your life gone too fast If you burn out too quickly, well you’re sure gonna fall But how can you see that when the world around you is so small? You’re a thief in the night boy, who stole too much from life And how, how can I make this right? How can I save that young heart? That brilliant young mind? Please now, please don’t you go now before your time You’re burning all of your bridges and you’ve flown too close to the sun Now it’s too late your wings are on fire and the damage is done You’ve burnt out too quickly and the poetry’s dead Lost between the void of your heart and your soul and your head You just kept on trying; you were always blazing through life ‘Til heaven took you, adieu my friend, goodnight Well they say that some people, they just burn too bright Adieu my friend, adieu, goodnight

about

“Chasing Clocks” is the debut album from up and coming singer-songwriter Lucy Zirins, released 25th March 2013 on CD and digital download.

An album of 12 original, self-penned songs, Lucy Zirins is described as being “blessed with a musical passion that takes audiences on unforgettable emotional journeys”. With influences of folk, country, soul and blues in her sound, “Chasing Clocks” transports the listener into this young singer songwriter’s world

From heartfelt songs of love (“The Last One”, “Separate Ways”), to the wishful dreams and experiences of a small town girl (“Home”, ”One Day Soon”) and tales of heartbreak and separation written with conviction that belies her years (“Tearing Me Down”, “Hours to Waste”), this is an album that will move you and stay with you. Tracks such as the simple solo “Lullaby” show off the beautiful intimacy of this singer’s performance and the stand out “Goodnight”, shows her strength in songwriting.

The album was produced by Michael Messer (one of the world's leading slide guitarists with many successful albums under his belt) and recorded almost completely live by co-producer Liam Watson, at the famous analogue Toe Rag Studios, London. The studio has played to host to many famous acts, including The White Stripes, who recorded multi platinum album “Elephant” there. Musicians on the album include: Simon Price on drums and Andy Crowdy on double bass (both: Michael Messer Second Mind Band); J.C Grimshaw on guitar, mandolin and harmonica (Midge Ure); BJ Cole on pedal steel (Elton John, Joan Armatrading, Emmylou Harris); Emily Burridge on cello (George Michael, Stereophonics, Jools Holland); Maddy Read Clarke (backing vocals) and Richard Causon (Tom Jones, Ryan Adams, Sugababes) on keys and Indian Harmonium.

As an all-analogue eight track reel-to-reel tape recording, the whole process of recording, mixing and mastering was done without the use of any computers or digital equipment, and with the exception of some minimal overdubbing, the album was recorded live in the studio with all the musicians playing together at the same time, giving it a wonderfully natural, intimate and warm sound.
